"AS GENEROUS AS THE SUN"

Sometimes the plainest of phrases containing the simplest sequence of words can be surprising.  Lucy Worsley used a disarmingly simple phrase in a recent feature article, in which she described the author Dorothy Hartley as being “as generous as the sun.”  Her simile instantly paints a mental picture of a person who is as generous as the sun is indiscriminate; bathing each and all, with an even and generous light.  Sometimes the simplest of phrases are the best.
